So yesterday I had my interview for the fiance visa in Kyiv, at 8 am. I want to share my journey with you now, while I remember all the details.
I arrived to the embassy a little too early, but people start to arrive at 7:20, which is the perfect time, you can drink some tea and live your stuff in a white sprinter. ( 100 UAH for a bag)
The embassy girl didn't let me in right the way because she couldn't find my appointment, but I had it printed so I didn't worry about that ( make sure you print out you appointment letter NOT ONLY Dc-160 confirmation, there was a girl who didn't print it, and had been asked to have it at least on her phone to show it)
I waited for a while so she figures out where my name is, and in 5 minutes I was in.
security check took less than a minute,
inside the embassy they gave each applicant tickets with the number and said to wait, two other women were for k 1 visa too, we waited together, but not long, in 10 minutes they called me to collect my documents, and other girls were called too, at the almost same time.
Nice Ukrainian man ( I think) asked in Ukrainian for my documents ( passport, photos, police clearance, birth certificate, affidavit of support, and I gave him recent tax return, paychecks, and letter from Danny's work which I couldn't find at first, it was between other documents, he said that its enough even if its not there, and he asked for ALL the evidence of relationship I have. )
he took my fingerprints and he said to wait for my interview. it took 15 minutes for all that.
two girls and I start to wait for the interview, I thought that I will be the second one because I had the number 801 and another girl had 800. But I guess it doesn't matter, while waiting I saw a consular ( women) looking at my documents and pictures I provided, and in a few second my number pup up on her window, ( the waiting was like 10 minutes maximum) and I quickly came there, I smiled and said Hello!
Lady starts talking to me in Ukrainian and asked "which language is more comfortable for me Ukrainian or Russian", I was surprised there is no English choice)
surely I said Ukrainian, and we began with an oath, and then she starts to ask questions like:
"Why are you here? "
I said to have my interview for the K1 visa
" for what?"
I said so I can have a K 1 visa ( lol)
"But why you need a visa?? "
then I got it right " To marry my fiancè in America"
surprisingly she wasn't irritated by me not getting the right answer quickly.
"What is the name of your fiancè?" she asked
Then she asked, "were, when and how we met?"
I said where and how we met and then she said: "So you didn't work for a long period, why? and how did you support yourself?"
I said that I was studying at University until last year and I was supported by my fiance
"Which university?" she asked and "what did you study?"
I answered which university and what did I study.
and she asked "can you provide evidence that your fiance was supporting you??",
and fortunately I had 3 money transfers from this year, she thought it was only ONE, and became suspicious and confused " only one transfer?? " she said ,and I was like : "NO NO !! its 3 on this paper , you can see different dates there, and when she saw it, she said "okay, good" ( So I would recommend having more if you have similar case, because I wrote this information on my dc -160 too that I am supported by my fiancè, so its better to have evidence) and another question: "whose wedding you attempted on this pictures?"
I said Danny's little brother .
I saw her hand reaching for a white paper, and she said something I didn't hear because in my ears angels were singing saying you got it you got it ! you are approved !))))))
the conclusion about Lady consular :
very polite and has not threatening look, I was very comfortable to talk to her. Questions were asked normally like in casual conversation, you don't feel interrogated at all, and I don't know if she was an American or Ukrainian because here Ukrainian was perfect.
One thing I recommend is to smile, and if you nervous just smile and talk to people around while waiting, joke about something to make time pass quickly,
I had a lot of stress days before having an interview but I tried to be happy and positive this day, because being nervous is not helping
GOOD LUCK !
