I give humble thanks and all glory to GOD.
My fiancé was approved for her K1 Visa in Addis Ababa today.
The process at the Embassy and her interview with the CO went smoothly.
My fiancé arrived early and I’m happy she did because there was a long line outside the Embassy of people waiting to get checked in. (Make Sure to go at least one hour before your interview)
We made sure she had all the right documents before she went for her interview. (Make Sure You Have The Following)
* Passport
* Birth Certificate plus 1 photocopy
* Police Record plus 1 photocopy
* 2 Passport Pictures
* I-134 Affidavit of support and the petitioner Tax transcripts ( I sent tax transcripts, W2’s and last 3 month Paystubs)
* Medical ( In Addis your medical info will be sent directly to the Embassy by your doctor)
At the interview my fiancé was asked only a few questions but the questions were about things of my past.
* What is your Fiancé name?
* Where was your fiancé born?
* Where did you meet your fiancé?
* When did you last see him.
* (My fiancé showed him my visa stamp, evisa and boarding passes from my last trip to Addis)
* Has your fiancé ever been married?
* When was his divorce?
* Has your fiancé ever been arrested?
* What was he arrested for?
* What are his parents names?
* What are your wedding plans?
The CO then congratulated my fiancé and told her she was approved and her passport will be available for pickup in 1 week.
My biggest piece of advice is prepare and make sure your fiancé is prepared. The CO didn’t look at chat logs or pictures. I made sure to send my fiancé copies of my visa stamp and boarding passes from my last trip and it came in handy to prove I came back to see her since filing the petition. If the petitioner has a past arrest MAKE SURE the beneficiary knows about it and the reasons why. My fiancé saw people get denied and saw many get approved. Make sure you and your love one are prepared and you will do just fine.
