Whole procedure takes 2 days . 1st is medical examination and next day is interview at consulate.
Day 1. I took bus number C12 which goes not directly, but quite close to Instituto Varelli. I came first (had to wait another 20 min in front of closed door) as followed advises to come earlier. I also recommend to do so, as after 5 minutes after opening people start coming non stop. In reception you need to choose category C and I had ticket C1 and was first to be called.
Everything went fast. First they took you urine and blood, then they check you vaccination records (I am not from Italy, and document from my home country was accepted just fine), as i had all vaccines they took 220 eur and 4 passport photos and I went for TB check. Last step was to check my blood pressure, questionnaire about my health etc. Important, if you wear glasses or lenses take it!! I did not take my glasses and had bit of trouble to check my vision, but all in all we agreed with doctor that I see 2 first lines and it is enough for evaluation. After this i was free to go. I found all process very efficient and pretty fast.
Day 2. My interview supposed to be at 8 am. I came to consulate gate around 7.30 am and there were already people waiting. We waited for around 20 minutes and went inside. And after we waited.. and waited and waited. I was called to the window around 9 am and firstly they checked document which I had : mine birth certificate (original and copy), police certificates (original and copy) , passport, 2 passport photos and petitioner documents (here they can accept only printed copies) IRS (i gave for 3 years), Affidavit of support and copy of petitioner passport. After they took my documents i was send back to my seat for another wait..
To my total surprise interviews were conducted not in the private room. They were done through the window.. in the same room where everyone was waiting. When it was my turn, I went to the window , swore to tell the truth and my interview began. I was asked a lot of questions. But they were more or less expected. How we met? How long we known each other? What do we do for living? If I met petitoner's parents? If we have children/divorces? How many times we met? etc. At the end of it I was told that my VISA is approved and i need to go to another window to find out how to proceed further since I am not from Italy.
To make long story short, I picked my passport and sealed envelope in 2 days directly from consulate.
All in all, I actually enjoyed this journey and I think I have been waiting so long at every single step that I was so tired that i was not worried at all during the interview. All the best to everyone!
