Konsulat Review

My appointment was at 7:30. I got to the consulate at about 6:45
There was one person in front of me but the window was still closed. By the time the window opened at 7:25 there were 8 more people behind me. If those the let a couple with a small child and an older lady with a cane accompanied by her daughter get to the front of the line. Unfortunately the gentleman who was there before me and the older lady were not very well prepared or organized and held up the line at different stops quite a bit.
At the first window I handed in my passport and my appointment confirmation print out and was handed my ticket number and then directed on to the next line outside for security. After that I went on to the main building and a friendly receptionist handed me a paper with instructions.
I went to a window all the way in the back and even though I had managed to pass the guy in front of me at security he managed to wiggle ahead of me here again.
Anyways at the first window they just wanted my passport and the confirmation page and told me to take a seat again and they will hand my passport and case file in to the next person and I’ll be called with my ticket number to another window. That window just confirmed my address and phone number asked if I was previously married and when I planned on going to the US and the address there. Then she asked for the tax form for the affidavit. I told I had emailed it in and she said they needed a different form, I told her I only had that because I was I formed that I was all set with what I had sent in. She then said not to worry, that it would be sufficient for the K1. She then handed me a flyer about domestic abuse and told me to take a seat and I’d be called to the interview.
At that point I had gotten ahead of the 2 unorganized people and was the second person to be called to the interview. It took a few minutes but I recognized my passport and watched the officer go through my file reading things and typing information in his computer.
When he called me up he first explained how it would go and then I had to take an oath that I would tell the truth and sign the oath via fingerprints.
He then asked the following questions
Have you lived in any country besides Germany?
How did you and your fiancé meet?
What was your first date?
How did the relationship continue after that?
Where did he propose?
When are you planning on getting married?
What does your fiancé do for a living?
Where are you planning to live once you’re married?
Have you been married before?
Do you habe children?
Has your fiancé been married before?
How much are his children with him?
Where are you planning on getting married?
(He referenced back to my file on the questions, so make sure what you say matches what it says in there)
Then he handed me back the originals of the documents I had sent in and told me “your visa is nearly approved it will take 1-2 weeks for the visa to get to you.” He also handed me a paper that said the same thing. And that was it.
Besides the appointment confirmation page I was asked for no additional paperwork, no continued letter of intent, no proof of ongoing bonafide relationship, nothing even though I had brought all of it.
I was out the door of the consulate by 8:45.
I was a bit taken aback by the “nearly approved “ but I guess the rest is just a formality.
