APPROVED!

My wife had her interview the morning of May 22nd, just five and a half months after we began the process. Needless to say, it went well. The hardest part was collecting all of the thing they "might" want to see, and stressing out as to whether or not you were forgetting something. We stayed at Jim's Lodge located behind the Consulate (not sure I'd recommend that place, it was rather run down and very very dated)... however the rooms were clean and it was only a 10-12 minute walk from there. Her appointment was scheduled for 8:00AM, we arrived at 7:15AM and was allowed in within 3 minutes as there was only one other person in line. Once inside she presented her paperwork to the lady at the window which deals with the K1 and IR1 visas, then paid the $325 fee. The consulate is using and exchange rate of 34 baht to the dollar which is higher than what is currently is by over 2 baht. She paid using her Thai issued credit card only because she was short 50 baht. Wouldn't have been a problem, but they didn't let her take her purse in with her, so she only had 11,000 baht which we felt would have been enough (but wasn't at 34:1). Anyway, she paid then sat down until her name was called. Around 9:00, they called her to the window where the man spoke Thai to her, asking her 6 questions.

1. How did you meet your husband. (FB)
2. When did you meet him. (2013)
3. When were you married. (2015)
4. Where does he live (we live together in Chiang Rai)
5. Does he own a house in the states (no... we are going to live with his mother who needs support)
6. Where does she live (Hilo, Hawaii).

Then he said she had already been approved and was told she will get her passport and immigration packet in the mail within 7 days. So that was it... in around 7:15 in the morning and out at 9:20, and with a big smile on her face too. I asked how the staff was and she said everyone was very nice and polite, and outside of the general nervousness of the whole thing, she had nothing but positive things to say about them.
