When I scheduled my interview with Sydney, I requested for my fiance to attend the interview with me, and they let security know. I'm from Brisbane so I flew into Sydney on Monday morning with my fiance and stayed at the Travel Lodge at Martin Place. We paid an extra $40 for a late, 1pm checkout the next day.
My appointment was scheduled for 8AM on the Tuesday so I arrived at the MLC centre at 7:30AM. I went up to level 10 and took a seat on the chairs outside of the security area and waited for them to open. The elevator wasn't working to take us up to the interview area so the consulate opened a little late, but to be honest this didn't bother us because they let everyone know that no one was going to miss their appointment.
After an hour or so I went through to a desk where someone checked my documents as per the checklist. Subsequently I went through security (just like airport security) and gave them our phones to hold onto. I sat in a new seating area and waited to be called to go into the elevator.
I took a ticket and a seat after getting off of the elevator. We were called up to a desk where a lady checked all of my documents and handed me back a few of them (payslips, extra tax transcripts, bank letter) and told me to give them to the CO if they ask for it. I took a seat again and waited for my ticket number to be called. Finally, I went up to be interviewed, with my fiance.
I was asked the following questions:
1) Who is with you today? (referring to my fiance)
2) When did you meet?
3) How did you meet?
4) Have you been to the US?
5) (Question to my fiance) Have you been to Australia before this?
6) Where do you stay in the US?
7) What do you do for work?
8) When did you get engaged?
"Your visa is approved" the CO said. The interview was only 3-5 minutes long!
Once getting to the interview, everything went smoothly and the CO was nice. I was out by 10:30am even with all of the elevator troubles.
