(My old account was deleted, so I am upping my old review) My appointment was on September 14th 2012 at 8.30 am. This is the time you have to be at the gates of the embassy. I went there by tram and had my backpack with phone etc stored at a booth next to the train station (it costs 5 Euros, but it is save there). There were two lines, one really long one and a short one. I asked the guard guy where I can line up and was pointed to the short one. After a bit of waiting, I was called to the window and handed in my invitation and passport, and was given a slip with a number (W610). Then I went inside for the security checkup, which was an overall pleasant experience. Then I went inside the hall. It is just as described, a big hall with lots of chairs and several numbered windows all around. I sat down and was after a while called to window 23, where my passport was taken and all my docs checked (I didn't bring anything with me but my passport and the incvitation). The woman said "It's all there, and in perfect order" Then she told me to sit down and wait again. After a while, I was called to another window where a woman informaed me about everything that will happen at POE, she showed me the envelope with the missing corner etc etc. Then she said I should sit down and wait till the cosul is calling me. Then I waited for 4 hours, which seemed endless, cause I didn't really bring something to read. Also, the snack automat was out of order, and I got hungry. After 4 hours of patient waiting, the consul called my to the window. I was called by my last name, not by my number, which I thought was funny. The consul had a woman sitting next to him and they both seemed really nice. They checked my personal info (names of my mom and dad, my birthdate) and then asked me where, when and how I got to know my fiance. We talked a little about the circumstances, then he asked where my fiance is living, and I told him. I'm going to move to the Detroit area and we talked a little about how everyone is leaving the place ... Then after a while both smiled and told me that I will get my visa by mail within 8 to 10 days. Apart from the waiting, a very nice and pleasant experience.
