Honestly, very nice experiance
My appointement was at 8:30 am (this is the time
when you allowed to be invited into the Embassy) and I was back out calling my Fiance at 9:23 am.
Before you are able to enter the Embassy you should check if you are on the list (there is an Embassy worker on a sidewalk with a notepad), then still outside of the Embassy you queue in front of a window where your passport and ds-160
is checked. You get a sticker on the passport and you wait untill a nice security guard invites you in. Inside you do a normal security check (like an airport one) and you give your phone and other devices like a power bank to the guards. They put them on a shelf and give you a number to collect them when you are done. Next you stroll inside, straight to the basement to the immigration visa side. Once there, at the window 13 you collect your number and wait to be called to the
window 14 where a really nice lady checks your documents, gives you an IMBRA pamflet and takes your fingerprints. And now you wait to be called by a Consul.
Interview: Awesome haha
Seriously it was very nice experiance, we joke a bit and verified some issues. The questions asked were basic and in general it is more like relax conversation than a scary interview. Some questions just pops in realtion what you say. Just be honest, relax and well i guess happy,
after all this interview allows you to be reunited with your loved one.
Documents:
- We had a co-sponsor - no one was interested into looking at those papers and we had a co-sponsor for a reason;
- I had originals of the documents submitted with the petition (friends testimony, Fiance birth certificate and his divorcee decree - again no one asked for them;
- proofs of ongoing relationship were also
not looked into;
- I had original and a copy of my birth certificate - both were taken and at the end original was returned to me,
- Consul also returned original photos that were submitted with the petition;
- Since back in a day I have visited US I took with me my previous passport in which I have expired visas - Consul did look into that.
