Review Topic: K1 Visa

I applied for K1 fiance visa., and I am overall pleased with the US embassy in Singapore as they are very efficient and hassle-free. They are very quick in responding to emails.

My appointment was on 30 January, 9.30am. I arrived at 9.15am and went straight into the building. I had to pass through the security check, and had to only surrender my phone and earphones. After entering the building, they guided me into a room for the interview. The room was sort of like a bank teller kind of room, where you can hear other people's interviews. I was told to take a seat until my name was called out. I only waited for only 20 minutes before they called my name out at counter 7, where they normally conduct immigrant visa interviews.

The first counter (counter 7), the officer (a Singaporean lady), only asked me to submit a couple of documents, so this was not the interview:
- Original of Certificate of Clearance
- Passport photo (2x)
- Original and copy of Birth Certificate
- Affidavit of Support form
- Latest Tax Returns
- Proof of residency in Singapore (I just showed this to the officer. I was a Singapore PR)

and a question of whether both of me and fiance has ever been married before.

The officer gave me back my fiance's bank statement and letter of employment form as she did not need it. Also, she asked me on whether I had a Certificate of Clearance from Indonesia as I am an Indonesian. I told her that they don't give Certificate of Clearance in Indonesia and I grew up in Singapore since I was a kid. She then told me to take a seat.

After 5 minutes, I was called to counter 8 where I was interviewed by a middle-aged American man. The interviewer only asked me 5 questions:

- How did we meet
- When did we meet again after I come back to Singapore
- Whether I went anywhere else with him besides Singapore
- Where was his house in Jakarta (both of us were born from the same city before migrating to other countries)
- What are our marriage plans

And after the last question, he said that everything looks good and he took my passport. I guess my interview went pretty smoothly because I was an international F1 student before

That's it! I was surprised that the questions were super easy, he didn't even ask me to explain the IMBRA pamphlet while the previous woman who was interviewed did lol

Good luck everyone who is applying! It is not as bad as you thought it would be
