Nairobi Kenya Embassy 🇰🇪🇺🇬
Steps from NOA2 to Interview.
After we received our NOA2 Date 02/28/2018 we waited 15days to receive Case Number, I called NVC on â€+1 (603) 334-0700‬ Case was ready in Us Embassy Nairobi.
I called the Nairobi Embassy on â€+254 20 5000006‬ they told me they’ll send my fiancé instructions soon.
On 03/28/2018
They email My Fiancé Instructions/Appointment letter! Remember to print out this letter and bring it with you at your medical appointment and interview appointment.
In this letter they instruct you to create account on there Embassy site:
To create account you must be ready with your case number, Passport number, Confirmation Number from Ds-160, visit this site after receiving your case number https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ and have that Ds-160 Done! Email yourself the confirmation page, they’ll ask it on your visa interview, be ready with your passport photo on your computer. After you’re done with that go and create account on the Embassy site
https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke/iv/users/sign_in
K1 is considered as immigrant visa. Select option that say “I have received a letter from Consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment†I was stuck on this page just because of selecting a wrong option. I called the embassy they corrected it.
This is the site you’ll pay your Visa Fees of 265$
Selected DHL office where you’ll pick your passport and Not To Open envelop after interview is done, Select DHL offices in Nairobi, don’t select a office that will take you 7 and more hours to get there.
Tips on this site, It took me 14days to get appointment with the Embassy, some take 30days. You can’t go ahead and pay visa fees when your haven’t got appointment date, Keep checking on this site every after 20 minutes(tips) the Embassy will open dates, once they open a date go ahead and selected that date they’ll email you straight away their payments method for the 265$ VISA fee ! You are given dates you should make in this payment. Be ready with money with you.
They use Post Bank and M-Pesa, I recommend M-Pesa,they Emailed me confirmation of my payment after 6hours.
After confirming your visa fees go ahead and select a date you wish to have your interview.
NEXT STEP
Book medical appointment with IOM, they’ll need your Appointment letter with dates of your interview.
https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/NRB_Nairobi.pdf
Email them on :mrfnbommsc@iom.int
They’ll email you back as soon as possible.
Make sure you book your medical two weeks prior interview appointment, that’s if you have any medical issues, I didn’t want to stay that long in kenya waiting for interview, I booked one week prior interview appointment.
After getting all that done I got my documents ready https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/NRB_Nairobi.pdf and booked a bus to Nairobi.
I used Modern coaches, it took us 14 hours to arrive in Nairobi. Luckily enough a sat next to a Ugandan friend who was going for his medical appointment on the same dates as mine.
Make sure you book the bus that will depart at 7pm, it will arrive in Nairobi the next day in the morning,( who wants to arrive in the country you don’t know at night)lol At the Boarder i was asked for my Passport, Yellow fever book, where I was going and days I will spend there. The officer asked for my appointment letter with the Embassy just to confirm my information.
My medical appointment was for two days Monday and Tuesday, i booked on Saturday 7pm and arrived Sunday morning in Nairobi.
We got time that very day to find where IOM and the Embassy is so that the next Monday morning we are not stuck.
We boarded a Matatu(You call it Taxi in KLA) to Gigiri. It’s way cheaper than other means of transport in Nairobi.
Before departing for Nairobi make sure you have these apps on your smart phone.
UBER & TAXIFY.
Nairobi is a very big city you can get stuck with transportation, I used these apps whenever I was going for my appointment, it’s very Cheap.
With accommodations we stayed at Hotel Green Court latema Road Nairobi. It’s like 6km to Embassy and IOM. They provide free internet and breakfast in the morning. We didn’t get a chance to have their breakfast because we could leave early in the morning.
We stayed here for two days as my friend was departing Tuesday evening after his medical appointment, he has his Interview appointment for DV Lottery (Green card) on 22rd May.
Day 1
We arrived 5:30am for our Day1 medical appointment, went in at 6:00am they asked One passport photos, appointment letter with Embassy, appointment letter with IOM and your passport and a copy of your passport bio page. Be ready to discuss your medical issues with the doctors.
They took my blood & Urine samples, got X-Ray, you’ll be asked for if you have any medical issues and your immunization records! I only provided my Yellow fever book.
I was given receipts for payments. Their bank is at Market Street not far from IOM,Payment are done in USD and KSH only, better travel with your money exchanged.
Pay that money that very day and be back with receipts the next morning.
Day 2
It was pretty quick, started with giving my receipt to cashier. I was called by Doctors at 8am, they checked me, got my height measured.
I was given the a CD, The Doctor was very nice, He told me everything was fine that I’m one way step to America, with a Smiling face I said; Thank you sir.
Headed to get vaccines, got 3 shots after I waited for my medical certificate. I was told to move with the two whenever I travel to states. Checked in at 7:03am Checked out at 11:29am.
NOTE: IOM is supper busy, be in time many embassies have their medical here, I.e ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA, USA and other European countries. it’s so cold in the morning, they professionally do their work, they’re so helpful.
Children between the ages of 2 years to below 15 years will require a Tuberculin skin Test (TST) by Mantoux method (administered ONLY on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) which will be read after 48 hours, i.e. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday respectively - during the physical examination.
MEDICAL WAS SUCCESSFULLY DONE ✅
My Friend had to depart that day he couldn’t stay in kenya for long.
I had to find some cheap hotel since I was to stay in Nairobi.
I got Protea Guest House, Duruma Road near Coast Bus. 6km to Embassy and IOM. It’s way cheaper than the first one, I was able to save for the next days in Nairobi, They only provide Hot Water in shower..lol No Internet No Breakfast. I bought a Safaricom SIM card, Roaming is very expensive with MTN.
I liked here because I got to find Ugandans here and the Ugandan Restaurant with our local foods. Life was Fine.
I pushed for the next days, I could move around Nairobi. Got time to go to Maasai Market , Nairobi Safari walk, Central Park, Mamba Village, Uhuru Park. I made sure by 6pm am at Hotel. I advise not to move at night.
