Mumbai, India | Review on December 7, 2018: | pknick
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
As a petitioner I was supposed to accompany my fiance but bcoz the timelines i had, I couldnt.
Im submitting the review on behalf my faince... she reached the embassy in mumbai in the early hours thinking she is very early bcoz she started at 6am it took 30 min to reach the embassy, saw the premises to be empty and there were security guards and so vacant then the guard requested to wait opposite side of the road and she realized there is lot of people waiting and in 10 min security guard called all the people who hv appointment at 7:15 am to form a line and wait. She happened to be in the first few people but in the hurry she forgot the passport in the bag which she gave it to her cousin accompaning, luckily she got them back and had to get screened for the list of documents and had to enter the consulate passing at lest 3 doors finally a huge room with lot of people and a person shouts for separation of North and south indian, it seems most of south indian prefer translators but my fiance insisted to avoid the translator and after few minutes of coomunication she was allowed to stand in the line where people dont need translator. Finally she waits and got to a place where 18 counters are present in a room and she goes to a counter and was asked for basic questions about the petitioner and few documents, out of which the CO needed the the original and copy of I-134, she had the original but no copy of it. CO asked her to bring it then she asked if there is a way to copy in the office, he suggested it will cost her 600 rupees then she realized she wasnt carrying any money, she even tried to ask people around seems no one had it.
so she had to go out again and asked the guards about the place to make copy they weren't helpful but finally there was a auto driver who said he knew and drove them for 10 min and requested and opened the shop to make a copy and got back to the embassy which took her atleast 30 min all in all and goes back into the office stood in the line after repeated request to go for the next available counter and finally gets another counter, this time the CO asked similar questions and mostly on my financials and plans for wedding in US and pretty standard questions that u get in the VJ site.
CO asked why didnt she apply for spouse visa, she answered saying the process is faster this way to be together considering our age groups being 40+ divorcee and with kids from previous marriage. After asking her for atleast 20 - 25 min of questioning she was said it was approved and she was given pink slip which says Visa is approved
She was out of the embassy by 10am, overall it took her 4 hrs of her morning time and finally one tension is gone and checked off the list. I am really happy for her positive attitude and being brave through the process. I feel lucky to chose her as my future life partner. I defintely suggest all the petitioners to support their beneficiaries to ccompany to the interview based on our situation. I feel guilty about not being there. Overall in the end she was approved and missed the oppurtunity to feel the happiness.
