All good
Turns out that the hour they set up is not the hour you will talk to the consular officer but the time when they will let you into the embassy. I was at 9AM and was in the last group of people who were coming in. Most of them were for tourist visas.
Obviously, no electronic devices allowed. You can leave your phone at the deposit but not much more than that. Don't bring any backpacks with you or anything like it! All I had was my documents and keys
People in there are very helpful and nice so no stress at all.
After screening like at the airport I followed the instructions and went to a lady who scanned the barcode I received at the http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ (this determines how I want my passport back). Then to another lady, who checked some of the original documents (in my case no financial documents were checked, only my birth certificate, police clearance, divorce papers from previous marriage and marriage certificate). She also updated my last name over there Then told me to sit down and wait for her to call me for fingertips scans. After that, she gave me the number to wait for the interview itself. I have been waiting for a long time but the interview itself took maybe 4 minutes?
The consular officer (a very nice young lady) asked me a couple of easy questions although one was a catch question - one that would determine if I still have contact with my husband. She asked me if he is in Idaho and I know she knew he is in Florida by now .
Other questions (not necessarily in this order):
- Where we met and a follow-up question to my answer.
- Is he a citizen.
- Does he have children.
- If the children lives with him ( I think she actually asked us )
- Do I have children.
- Is this my first marriage.
- Is this his first marriage.
- Where does he work and what does he do.
- If he visited Poland and when I said yes she asked what he liked about it the most (She actually asked if he eats pierogi!)
- Does he speaks Polish.
Maybe something else easy I can't recall anything else at the moment. No questions at all about our joint sponsor.
In the end, she thanked me she could finally speak with somebody in English! Haha, poor girl. She speaks Polish or Ukrainian all day, I can't blame her. She was really cool and nice. Best regards to her! She said that I am approved and wished me luck
That's it!
Aside from the long waiting time the whole process was very smooth and stress-free
