Okay.. where to begin, its been a crazy weekend....
We left from Edmonton via Greyhound bus to Vancouver on friday the 8th at 8:00PM for our 18hr bus ride lol. We checked into the Barclay hotel (1348 Robson street) it was only 59/night for a small room wtih the essentials.. tv, shower, bed, etc.. but no phone use, theres a pay phone in the lobby... the most important thing for us was a key and lock. we planned on staying at a hostel, but it was risky.. anyways..
Day of the interview, we took a 5 dollar cab ride from the hotel to the consulate... which is actually the Manulife Place Building on 1075 W. Pender street. Its a brown glass building, nothing special. WE SAW KEANU REEVES WALKING DOWN THE SAME STREET WE WERE WHEN WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE CONSULATE ON SUNDAY!!!.
We got to the consulate around 12:20 for the 1:00 interview, the security guard let us in because it was so cold and rainy outside... did the usual security check then was lead up tto the elevators to take up to the 20th floor. when we got to the 20th floor we went through security AGAIN (because from the point where the security swiped his pass to let us use the elevator to getting off on the 20th floor, i was able to fabricate a 9mm handgun from parts inside the elevator using the buttons as bullets... STUPIDDDD REDUNDANT SECURITY CHECKS!!)
We were greeted by 2 more security guards(one asian one who was CLEARLY a trainee) and a really nice white guy. The trainee was really rude, so i was rude back to him, i couldnt help it.. he was a dick and rifled through all my papers for about 10 minutes, i swear he was gunna rip open my medical results, i would have broken his face in.
We finally sat down about 10 mins to 1:00 ... waited for about 8 minutes and got called to Window A and was greeted by another asian guy who took my documents. he took my passport, my birth cert, ds-156(x2), ds-156k, i-134, criminal records chcek and he opened the medical exam results and looked at them breifly. We were told to wait until 2:00 to be called up for fingerprints and interview. We waited about 45 minutes and was called over for the digital finger printing at window 1, sat down for 2 minutes and was called to window 4 for the interview. The interview was done by a very nice asian lady, i was nervous as hell of course .
The first thing she did was go over the paperwork she had and began asking us questions:
1)how did we meet?
2)What did the USC do for a living?
3)When did we first meet in person?
4)When did we get engaged?
5)Will the co-sponsor be able to provide for me when im in the states (if i need it)
6) When was the wedding date set for?
As everyone has said, it was very casual and i didnt feel pressure at all.. it was like she was just trying to get to know us..
For the evidence, we had about 2 trees worth of paper work to show her, but she was only interested in looking through out picture album. She flipped through it, asked a few questions about where we were etc.. then she said the magic words
"I see no reason why i should not approve of this visa"
We were told to have a seat and wait for someone to instruct us on what to do next. We went back to window 1 and said we could pick up the visa the next day around 2:00.. YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
