I had my appointment at 8am August 23rd. I was absolutely freaking out because I somehow misplaced my passport somewhere in our apartment, and could not find it to bring along. I tried calling USCIS to ask if I should try and reschedule, but maybe I didn't have the right patience to figure out how to get to an actual human. The recording just kept telling me to "Ask Emma" lol. I did, she wasn't helpful. So thankfully I had copies of my passport and brought those along, fingers crossed real hard it wouldn't matter too much.
My husband and I arrived around 7:40am at the Minneapolis office on Marquette. Went through security, checked in and received a number, sat down and waited. Right at 8am our number was called and we went in. We were interviewed by Officer Jack, who was super nice and friendly. Definitely made me feel a little less nervous. She asked for our id, including my passport. I nervously told her that I couldn't find it (AND STILL HAVEN'T, WHERE ARE YOU PASSPORT?!) but I had a copy and my I-94 record, and that was okay! She also asked basic questions about our address, birthdays, where I work, and then asked if we had anything we'd like to show her that we didn't already send in. I had photos and a few items that proved we live together. We probably should have had more, we're total procrastinators and don't even have a joint bank account yet nor is my name on the lease. We explained our situation though, which she seemed to understand. Honestly we talked about our dogs for probably half of the interview, ha.
At the end, she said she still has a few things to look over but that she was going to recommend us for approval Yay! It was about a 15 minute process, much easier than I anticipated.
