So my husband's flight got changed the eve of our interview because they thought he was going to miss it and gave his spot to a standby. So he got in at Montreal at about 2:00am. We then had to go downtown where we stayed(and are staying until Sunday). We rented a room at Quality Hotel on Ave. du Parc.
So, we were able to sleep about 2 hours. At 6:40 we headed out and walked to the Consulate. Somehow, I got us lost.... but we stopped at the Hyatt hotel and got directions and everything was good with the world again. When we got there, it was maybe 5-10 minutes past 7:00 and there was only one woman there before us. They opened the door at about 7:25(yay cuz it was cold), and they proceeded to check our stuff. We had to take off our coats, and empty our pockets. We didn't have any bags, just the paperwork in a plastic bag as suggested here on VJ. We were given the little card with the letter B(window 9). We went through the metal detector one at a time. I made it ring but it was only because of my boots. They passed the hand-held metal detector on me. We were told everything was ok and went downstairs to the waiting room to wait for the security guard to take us upstairs.
A few minutes later, we were about 6 people in the waiting room and the security guard came down and asked for letter A and B to come up. He also asked if anyone had letter C. A lady got up, and then he said : "Did I call your number? Sit down". I thought it was kinda funny. We went up to floor 19 and were told to go to window 9 where the lady asked for my interview letter. I gave her 3 different emails confirming the interview date. She told us to go to the waiting room and wait for our name to be called. About 5 minutes later, we were called to window 11. There was a nice woman there and she asked for my pictures, the affidavid of support, the police certificate, my birth certificate and our wedding certificate, and our passport. She asked us how we met and we explained. We then were told to go back to the waiting room and wait for our name to be called again. We were called again 2 minutes later to verify my address. We again went back to the waiting room. We were called again, to window 11, where my fingerprints were taken. Once again, we were told to go back to the waiting room and wait to be called again.
The lady that was there before us got called to room 8. By this time the 19th floor was pretty full with all kinds of people coming to and from the elavator. The lady came out with a smile. She'd been approved and was told her passport would be mailed tonight if possible. 10 minutes later, it was our turn. We entered room 8 where a man greeted us and told us to hang up our coats and suggested we place our documents on the chair. So after that, he had me sign the DS form. He told me I did it so well, that he'd have me sign another. It was nice to be in a relaxed atmosphere. He asked us how we met. He commented on how it wasn't the first time he heard about people hooking up on World of Warcraft, saying that it was good, because a lot of people meet on the Internet nowadays and some of them its from shifty forums. He asked my husband what he did for a living, asked me what I did for a living. He also asked if we'd had any problems with the immigration process, such as problems at the border. My husband thought he'd be funny and mention that when he came to propose, he was charged 10% for bringing a gift(the ring). "They charged me 500$ man!". Then the interview guy said, "you know you're under oath, if it cost 50$ and not 500$ you have to say so!". My husband got defensive and said, "It really was 500$!". The interview guy replied : "Im just kidding man, was just joshing you about trying to impress your wife" He then told us we were approved and that he was going to try and mail our visa stamped in my passport. He also added "it's 9:00, it's still early enough to take your wife out to breakfast". So we wished him a good day and we headed out with smiles on our faces!
We went back to the hotel, went for breakfast and then napped!! It was good We then went to my work to give my 2 weeks notice and now, we sit at my parent's house
