I had a lot of trouble getting the interview scheduled. Apparently I was in the wrong section of the website and couldn't get my fee paid. The consulate was very helpful and tried their best to get things straightened out. I had to re-register, pay the fee and re-schedule my interview. My original date was booked full but after another email to the consulate I got the confirmation that my initial interview date still stood.
I had my appointment at 2pm and went in a 1:45pm. It was very crowded. After entering I had to cue on the left side of the room to window 1. There were about 7 people in front of me. At 3:20pm I was called to window 4 instead of window 1. They took my fingerprints and several documents.
- copy and original passport
- 2 pictures
- confirmation of payment
- copy and original birthcertificate
- copy and original of divorce papers
- DS160 conformation page
- copy and origial VOG police certificate
- affidavit of support
- copy of W2
- statement of bank
- statement of employer
He also asked me for a copy of the USC passport info page which I didnt have cause it is nowhere listed anywhere... Apparently it was no problem though, cause they continued without problems.
After that I was asked to sit down again and 5 minutes later I was called to window 1. She just asked me several questions (is *name* your fiance? He lives in *name of town*) and then told me to sit back down and wait to be called to the interview.
At 4:11pm I was called to window 2 for the interview. The man was very nice but very thorough. He asked me a bunch of questions:
- do you have a bike here in the netherlands? (there was a picture of us on the bike in the original petition)
- have you rode bike before?
- what does he do for a living?
- have you studied in the united states? (no? no idea where he got that from)
- how did you meet?
- when did you first meet in person?
- how often did you talk before meeting eachother in person?
- has he been married before? and you?
- you got divorced in 2014?
- what does your mom think of him?
- have you visited him?
- has he visited you?
- what do you love about him?
- do you have kids?
- does he have kids? how many? what are their ages?
- have you met them? how do you get along?
- have you discussed family planning? Would you want more children? Are you on the same page?
- he is older than you? by how much? how old are you?
- do you have more pictures?
- he has the same expression on all of them hasnt he?
- whats his character like, is he grumpy?
- where in the states will you be locating to?
- when is your planned arrival in the states?
Written down like this it feels like an interrogation but it really just was a very pleasant conversation. All in all it took 13 minutes.
He appologised for the inconvenience of the scheduling. he was very kind.
