I had my interview appointment yesterday. I got there two hours early so I walked around the museumplein a bit and got something to drink.
30 mins before my appointment I decided to go to the consulatwe, there was no line. The guards let me in right away (maybe because it was so hot outside) wich was really nice because they have A/C. I waited for about an hour before they called out my name. They requested all my documents and had a couple of questions about my fiance's adress and the documents I provided. They also took my fingerprints. After that they asked me to sit down again.
About 15 minutes later I was asked to walk to the other interview room and my interview started. The consular officer was really nice but also really strict. He knew how to take an interview and asked me the same question three times troughout the interview. The questions he asked me were:
* Where and when did you two meet?
* Were you ever married before?
* Was she ever married before?
* Were you in a long term relationship before?
* Does she have kids and how many?
* Do they like you and do you like them?
* What does she do for work?
* What do you have in common?
* I'm sorry, how many kids did you say she has?
* What is so special about her that makes you leave your country?
* What did you say she does for work again?
* And how many kids does she have?
* Are you sure you want to leave and marry her?
I replied the last question with "I'm leaving a really good job and life behind. I'm leaving friends and family behind, you don't do that when you are not a 100% sure you want to be together". Next to that I visited her 8 times in the last year and she visited me 2 times.
He explained that they are careful when people don't know eachother that long ( we are in a relationship for 14 months now). But we looked really happy in the pictures, we visited eachother a lot and I have a good life over her, so that's not a reason to live over there.
He finally said the magic words "I'm going to approve your visa". He told me it could take up to ten days before I would have my passport back with visa.
I had a pleasant experience, I was nervous because I want to be with my fiance more than anything but I really get the feeling that they know it when your relationship is true. Just bring all the documents they ask you to bring and a lot of evidence, even though he only looked at the evidence that got back from the USCIS.
