I had my interview on July 31st in Amsterdam.
I had to show my passport through the window and my appointment confirmation. Once I showed that, the lady opened the door for me and asked for my phone or any other electronic devices.. I just gave her my cellphone she checked if my bluetooth was on or not. Bluetooth is not supposed to be on!! She let me inside, I went through the metal detector.
Once inside I had to go to a desk, she took my passport and picture and told me to go to desk 2. At desk two the lady took all my original and copies of my documents, took my fingerprints and told me to take a seat, the consul him self would call me for the actual interview.
I sat down for almost 3hours!! People who came in after me, had already left the building with their approval!
Since it's all out in the open, you can hear every conversation, I could hear some of the interviews. The consul himself was asking a lot of questions, every interview took about 20-30min! So I was preparing myself for those questions..
But I got called by someone else, it wasn't the consul. My interview itself took about 5 minutes.
Questions asked:
Do you have pictures
How long have you 2 been together
Which language do you speak with each other
Where he comes from
How did you meet
That's it! The questioning took about 5min, the paperwork took a bit more time.. she double checked if I had everything. When she was done. She told me she approved my Visa. Congratulated me and wished me luck.
The lady was very nice. I actually had a small talk with her while she was filing the paperwork.
Just in case you do get questioned by the consul himself, make sure you are confident and know everything about your partner. He asks tricky questions.
Eventhough you don't know who is going to question you, but still it's good to know what to expect
On this website it says you will have your passport send home in 3-5 days.. its NOT anymore. At least not around this time of the year, they told me it would take up to 10 days!! Because they're so jammed. I am still waiting for my Visa/passport.. :/
(Also, make sure you have an appointment with the doctor first. And double check with your GGD if you need any vaccines (you may have had them but if its expired you'll need new ones))
Goodluck and relax, you got this!
