Arrived at Consulate at 6:45am for our 7:35 interview. There were already a line of about 40 people along the wall.

Greeters came out and started checking peoples paperwork and when the door opened we were brought into a holding area where they handed out a paper to write down the address where you want them to send your passport if approved. They said not to fill it out until later on because if you make a mistake they won't give you another one (just a scare tactic by the "greeters" which are actually EMS Post Office workers). I'm sure they'd give you another one if you made a mistake.

Went through security where you have to give them your phone and go through a metal detector and x-ray your bag and belongings. Then we were lead to another line but were told by one of the greeters to first go get our DS-160 barcode scanned at a different counter. After they scanned it we got a number and then went back into line but they only allowed my fiancee to stand in line. I was told to go have a seat. After waiting quite some time she was fingerprinted and told to wait until called. As someone else said in their review, it doesn't matter where you sit as they could call you to any window and the number screen doesn't always update so it's good to sit in the middle where you can hear the speaker better.

Our number was called and the lady behind the window asked me what was my name and my job. After I answered her I was told to take a seat. I thought I was going to be able to help hand over the paperwork she wanted so my fiancee was a little confused on what to give her. The lady ended up taking the pile of paper and just going through it and picking out what she wanted. She was polite but not very friendly. She was told to go take a seat and wait again for her number to be called.

Numbers are not called in order so try to pay attention to what's being called in case it doesn't show up on the screen. I recommend bringing a book since you will be waiting a long time and you can't bring in your phone.

Our number was called and my fiancee was sworn in in Vietnamese by the interpreter. After that the officer asked me my name and then I was allowed to stand there while he asked my fiancee the questions. My fiancee answered him back in English which I think helped and the interpreter was not needed at all. He asked the following questions:

How did you meet your fiance?
What is his job and what does he do at his job?
Does your fiance have any kids?
Do you have any kids?
How many times did you fiance visit you in Vietnam?

He did not look at any of our evidence whatsoever (I sent in 4 pictures with the original I-129f which were given back to me) and said we were approved but had one problem. My fiancee's passport had a different place of birth than her birth certificate. He had to give us a blue slip but said just bring back a corrected passport and the visa will be issued.

The whole experience was from 6:45am when we got there to 12:30pm when we left. If anyone has any questions or needs help feel free to message me any time!
