Even though our journey has been very long, I'm still please with Lagos Consulate. Staff is doing their job and they are suppose to question whatever looks suspicious. My hubby was approved for visa on Monday, July 16th and his passport was ready 3 days later.. now that's fast service! Anyway, this is our second time applying for US visa. First was in 2015, k-1. My hubby was not approved. See my previous review of the Consulate. (I just submitted that about a few days ago.) IR-1 was the second. According to my hubby all was well at the interview. Basic questions were asked such as info on previous marriage and personal info about me. Sorry, I'm not going to focus on questions and answers. Those are well covered in other folks views. So, I will stress the importance of telling the truth, paying attention to details, and let your journey be your journey. By following these principles, my hubby had no problem with the interview. He had to admit to mishaps from prevoius visitor applications and feel non-threaten to talk about. My hubby had to go thru memorization boot camp with me. (I really was tough... lol). Recalling details can be challenging when placed in an uncomfortable/ unfamiliar environment. We learned from the prior interview. Applicants are interviewed in front of everyone. There is no privacy!! Also, people are moved from area to area. Majority of time, you are standing. And the one thing that stinged us the most was that our love for each other was scrutinized because of misunderstanding of questions and misusing of terminology. God bless me with the opportunity to join my hubby for the K-1 interview but it was not funny to have a stranger say in my face that our relationship might not be legit
Sorry for the long review. My point is be prepared. Unfortunately, there might be some mundane procedures or maybe unempathic folks at the Consulate. It's still the applicant's responsibility to clearly articulate details and events and provide legible (and truthfully) documents.
