My journey for Naturalization was like this:
N400 Application Sent - 12/08/17
N400 PD - 12/11/17
Biometrics Letter Received - 12/14/17
Biometrics Completed - 12/29/17
In Line for Interview - 01/02/18
Interview Scheduled notice - 05/25/2018
Interview Scheduled - 07/03/2018
Approved - 07/03/2018
Oath Scheduled - 07/24/2018
My interview was scheduled for 12:50 pm, and as I lived an hour away from Charlotte, I decided to leave the house with my husband at 10:15, because they are doing some road construction work on I85 and I77. Actually we got stuck on I77 for about 20 minutes, but anyway we got there at 11:40, so we stop for lunch before heading to the CIS office. We arrived at 12:30, passed security, have to say the people there is really nice and helpful. They sent us to the information room, where I registered, and the guy told me that there was quite a few people in front of me, so to take a sit and wait. After 15 min. he start calling, I was the 5th person to be called. He gave me back my interview letter with a number assigned and told me to go to another waiting room where the officer was going to called for the interview. So we moved to the other waiting room, 4 people were called before me, and after 15 minutes a nice lady came out and called my number. She took me to her office and before sitting down, she took my Oath, then sit down, and she told me that she was going to take my fingerprints first and a picture, actually it took her a few minutes, because she was having some issues with the fingerprints machine. After that she went through the yes/no questions, then she said that she was going to ask me the civics/history questions:
1. Name one responsibility as a US Citizen
2. What is the rule of law
3. Name 2 US Holidays
4. Who is the Commander in Cief
5. Where is the Statue of Liberty located
6. What is the name of the NC governor
Then she gave me a paper and asked me to read the first question: Where the President lives?
And then gave me another paper and told me to write down: The President lives in the White House.
Then she said you passed this part of the interview, and she asked me how many times did I travel abroad since I got my green card, and I said none, that we only travel inside the US. But her face was kind of confused, so I told her, that as Peruvian there are so many places that I required Visa, therefore we decided to wait, so it will be much easier as an American, and she said, well the make sense. Then she asked me about my job, (where do I work and how long I've been working there), and then she said, well you passed your interview, I will recommend you for Naturalization, you will received a letter by mail with your Oath Ceremony schedule. Then she told me to take a look at the information showing in the iPad right next to me, to verify that the information was correct because that information was going to be shown in my Naturalization Certificate, then she make me signed there that it was correct, and then another signature that I took the Oath and something else, can't remember. Then she walked with me to the waiting room where my husband was waiting, and she walked back in again.
I think the whole interview for me took me less than 20 minutes, and would've been faster, but the delay was because of the fingerprints machine that didn't want to work at the beginning.
Hope this information will be help full for anybody out there.
