My husband arrived at the consulate around 6:45AM and waited for the purple shirt guy to let everyone in. You have to wait until 7:15 AM near Trident hotel entrance. After that, he went through security and selected English for language and was given a token number according to origin city (my husband is from South India so token was S). He was directed to a window to submit his DS-260, PCC, medical report, and passport. The person collected everything and give other remaining documents. After looking at your photocopies, they will return them to you.
Indian Officer asked following questions:
What is your name?
Who is calling you?
Documents.
Type of visa you applied?
After that, you are asked to wait for CO to call your name. Once the CO called, he was immediately told that the income of the petitioner was not enough and needed a joint sponsor. The CO proceeded with the interview and asked my husband to take an oath.
Questions Asked:
Who is calling you?
Where is she from?
Residence?
When were you married?
Did you go for your honeymoon?
Where did you go on honeymoon?
Where did your wife complete her graduation?
What year did she complete her graduation?
What is her highest qualification?
Why is there a change of career compared to her graduation major?
He was then asked to show photo album of our marriage and honeymoon. He finally said that everything was good but joint sponsor was required (221G) and that it would take a week to issue the visa.
He was given white 221G paper asking to submit joint sponsor papers.
Visa Issued exactly a week after the consulate received our papers.
NOTE: If you have been out of job for more than 6 months, no matter your current income, please have a joint sponsor as a backup. Most of the time they may not require but it is better to be safe. That was the only reason our visa was delayed. The most irritating part is that they waited for the interview to tell us we needed joint sponsor when all this could have been done at NVC stage.
