Arrival/Security/Check-In/Wait:
The local Orlando CIS has a nice, newer building which was very easy to find right off of Lee Vista Blvd. My husband and I arrived at 10:30am for a 10:45am appointment and easily found parking. When we got into the building (only one entrance, no suite or offices numbers to figure out,) there was immediately a line for security. There were probably 20 people in line ahead of us and it went very slow, taking almost 30 minutes to get through. The Security Guards speak with everyone one at a time, checking IDs and appointment/InfoPass documentation; the man doing it when we were there was checking it all very thoroughly, asking questions, etc. Then --just like you're at the airport-- you must remove belts and shoes, empty your pockets, and put any bags/purses in a bin which goes through a scanning machine then you walk through a different scanner. Once you're past security, there is immediately another line to check-in, which took another 15 minutes to get through. When it was our turn, the receptionist asked to see our IDs and appointment/InfoPass documentation again. He checked us in via his computer, wrote a letter and number (K90) on our paper appointment paper, and told us to sit near the back door until we were called. There were a few agents seated at windows along one side of the waiting room, in which certain people were being called up to for various reasons. For anyone being interviewed, an agent will come through the back door, call your number, and then take you in the back into a private office or cubicle for your interview.
Interview:
Our number was called after maybe 15 minutes of sitting in the waiting room. I walked up with my husband and gave the agent our appointment notice. The agent told me that he didn't need me to come in and I could go back to sit down there in the waiting room. I was surprised by this because I was under the impression that my husband and I would both be interviewed since it was an AOS due to K1 (fiancé visa.) I asked the agent if he was sure, mentioning that my husband was AOS due to K1 to make sure there wasn't a mix-up, and he told me that he only wanted to speak with my husband. I gave my husband my bag which had a couple photo albums and all of our paperwork (personal documents, an updated i-864, proof of our marriage and on-going relationship, proof of joint finances, etc.) Then I sat back down to wait. My husband was only gone for about 15 minutes. I thought maybe I would be interview separately or after my husband but no, when my husband came out that was it. I, of course, asked my husband what the agent asked and how the interview went. The agent leads my husband into a small room, my husband immediately set the bag with our paperwork and photos on the desk but the agent asked him to put it on the floor instead. The agent started by having my husband stand, raise his right hand, and say an oath swearing to tell the truth. The agent then had my husband sit down and asked him for his EAD/AP, my husband has not received it yet so he told the agent that. The agent then had my husband confirm a few personal details -- full name, birthdate, parents names, birth country, current address, if he had lived anywhere else since coming to the US on his k1, etc. The agent asked my husband about his previous marriage (confirming he had divorced and when,) asked if he and/or I had any children, and how we met. Then the agent ran through the same list of questions from some previous paperwork regarding criminal/drug history, terrorism/political involvement, etc -- all answers are likely no for everyone. The agent asked if my husband had any questions for him, he didn't. Then the agent explained if we ever moved to make sure we update our address within 30 days and that it could be 2-3 weeks before there is an update on our case, to check the online system for updates. And that was it--the agent didn't say if my husband was approved or not and never asked to see any of our documents or paperwork at all. The agent lead my husband back out to the waiting room and then we left together.
We're giving the office a rating of 4 purely due to the Security and Check-In process -- it took 45 minutes. The rest of the process and our experience there was good.
There have been no updates to my husband's case on the USCIS website yet - it's only been 28 hours but I'll update my review with additional timing details once we know something.
