Consulate / USCIS Member Review #2386

Vancouver, Canada Review on January 25, 2008:

Review Topic: K3 Visa

We arrived at the Consulate at about 12:15ish and the security guard told us to come back at about 12:50 (our interview was at 1pm). We hung out across the street for a bit at a restaurant.

Went back to the consulate at about 12:45pm and went through the first security check (no line up outside). They security guards were really nice. After security, we went up a flight of stairs to an elevator. A man took us to the 20th floor where we went through security again. We were told to sit down and that we would be called to window B shortly. There was only one other girl (K3) in the waiting room. When i was called to the window a very nice lady took in all of my checklist docs (originals and copies). We were told to sit down and wait for finger printing and our interview. About 30 min later I was called for fingerprinting then told to sit and wait for my interview. The other girl was called for her interview first. Her case was very complicated so her interview took forever (atleast 45min!).

I was finally called to booth 4 for my interview. The officer was the sweetest little asian lady. She had a big smile on her face when we got to the window. Like others have mentioned, the interview was more of a conversation than an interview.

Questions she asked us:
-How and when we met
-When did we get engaged
-When did we get married
-What we both did for a living and how much $ my husband (USC) made
-If i planned on working in the same field in the USA
-She asked if our parents were ok with the way we met
-She asked for some pictures, quickly flipped through them

She then told us that everything looked ok to issue to visa. She told us to have a seat and we would be called back to window B. About 2 min later we were called to window B and told to come back the next day after 2 pm to pick up my passport.
