Rating: | Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Apologies for the late review, I meant to submit it earlier but have been quite occupied. My wife's interview was simple and successful.
A few notes before the actual interview review:
I convinced her to travel to Lagos from the East just 10 days before the interview. I didn't know it takes at least 2 weeks for medical results from the panel physicians to be ready these days (it used to be 3 days when I went through 4-5 years ago). So she went for the interview without her medical result. She was asked to mail it to the embassy along with the passport as soon as it was ready. So please plan accordingly.
Interview review:
Interview was on 25 April 2018 at 0630. She arrived the embassy premises around 0530. She went with a cab to-and-fro as she preferred to go with her phone so she can leave it with the cab driver. After the security checks, she got inside, went through document verification and then interview. She was asked 4 to 5 questions as follows:
CO: Administers oath and requests for documents
CO: Who is calling you?
Spouse: My husband
CO: What's his name?
Spouse: ....
CO: What's his occupation?
Spouse:...
CO: Where's is he at currently? (i.e. City and state)
Spouse:...
CO: Congratulations, you're approved. Circles approval sheet and was about to close interview.
Spouse: Interjects... Sir, I may still need my passport to enable me collect my medical result from the panel physician because it's not yet ready.
CO: Oh! I often forget about the medical result. Thanks for reminding me. Circles new sheet of paper instructing her to mail in passport and medical result to the embassy once she gets it.
In all, we practiced, reviewed and did mock interviews. Ensure everything is ready but if not, don't be stressed out if your paperwork isn't complete. The worst they can do is to reschedule you or ask you to mail it in; it doesn't mean automatic denial. Be honest and pray, if you believe in prayers. Goodluck to everyone. I believe you all will receive good news of approval in in due time.
