I spoke to my most beautiful and lovely fiancée as soon as I woke up.
I arrived the embassy at 5:42 am for my interview that was scheduled for 7am.
After the 1st security check around 6:30am, we got divided into immigrants and non immigrants. We were asked to open the envelope containing the medical exam.
Further security checks were done and we made our way to the interview hall.
I was given #11. Not sure, but I think there were about 40 or so immigrant applicants.
1st, I was called to submit DS 160 form confirmation page, appt letter, police certs, medical exam, international passport ,and 2 passport photographs.
After that, we're all called again for thumb prints. I did mine around 7:30 am.
Then the waiting game started. The numbers given weren't called accordingly. Two officers were interviewing- male and female. Both seemed nice.
The lady CO officer called my # around 11 am or so. i got there and placed my huge files on her table, lol. She administered the oath and asked me the following questions (not really in this order):
* who's petitioning for you?
*how did you meet?
*when was that?
* have you met in person before? When was the 1st time?
*where did you meet? I said here in Abuja
*where you based in Abuja then?
*did you guys meet again? I said yes..she asked when?
*when did she leave?
*do you have pics of your meeting? I said yes and brought out 2 different photo albums labeled with the month that we met.
At this point , the CO shouted wow..all these photos for just one month (i said yes and she smiled).
She asked,me to show her the photos and I did..she saw a pic of my fiancee and i with my friend and his fiancee(she asked who they were and I told her .I told her they're married now in a wedding ceremony done which my fiancee and I also attended) .. she asked to see the photo album from the second meeting too which I showed her. She asked if we have any pic from my friend's wedding that we attended. I said yes and showed her. She smiled.
Further questions followed in quick succession.
*what does your fiancee do?
*where does she work?
*in which city?
*what do you do?
*have you lived in any other country before? I said yes
*where?
*What were you doing there?
These questions came in such a fast pace that we were done in about 7 to 8mins.
And she gave me the good news that my fiancee and I have worked hard for- APPROVED. I was elated.
All in all, I think it pays to be honest in all parts of the process (someone was on the verge of being denied due to conflicting info he gave). Plus maintaining a confident demeanor during the interview matters.
We thank God it ended in praise.
And thanks to this wonderful group
