I hope that my experience will help you. My appointment was on April 19, 2018. At 10 o'clock in the morning I went to the clinic to collect my medical results and then go to the Embassy. They told me everything was perfect. My appointment was at 12 in the morning and I went to the hotel where I was staying since I am from Cádiz.
About 20 minutes before the time of the interview I went to the embassy where 2 hours before there was a good line of people waiting to enter, but when I arrived there was no one and I could enter directly. I have to say that they do not let me enter with cell phones or bags or my apple watch, but you can leave them at the entrance where the security control is and they give you a number so you can pick it up when you leave. When I passed the security checkpoint, they asked me the name and they verified that I was on the list for that day's appointment and they gave me a number, they told me to keep it, with this number they would call me for the interview. There were not many people inside and the room looked like a bank with several windows and a screen where the number and the window where they would attend you was announced. Just a few minutes of taking my number and sitting down, they called me from the first window where they asked for my passport, my original marriage and birth certificate and a photo. They also asked me for the medical results. They confirmed my full name and address where they would send me back the passport.
In this first window they asked me the following:
-have you ever been in the United States other than as a tourist?
-Is this your first marriage?
-Have you lived in another country?
And then he told me that I had to wait a bit while sitting down to see my number on the screen for the interview with the consular agent.
I sat waiting while they called other people who were before me. I am not very sure but it is possible that I waited at least 20 minutes for my number to appear on the screen and went to the window that corresponded to me.
A nice and young girl took care of me and asked me the following questions:
-Tell me how you met and how your love story began
-How long were you engaged?
-How and where did he ask you to marry?
-Did you meet in Spain or in the USA?
-How do you communicate in the distance?
-Where was your husband born?
and after these questions he said: I have good news for you: Your visa has been approved! At that moment I almost miss the tears of emotion.
He told me that everything was correct and that I only had to do some administrative procedures and that in about a week I would receive my passport and the rest of the documents. I recommend 2 restaurants in Washington DC.
It is normal that we all go nervous and somewhat tense to these interviews but there everyone is very kind. I had a lot of documentation with me that they did not ask me then! Hardly the whole process lasted 30 minutes!
