My experience with the American Embassy has been rather good. My interview was on February 22, 2018.
When I arrived I waited for about 5 minutes to be able to enter. They make you go through airport-like security, take everything out of your pockets, let it all go through a scanner. Walk through a metal detector. I had to leave my keys behind, but I was able to pick them back up after. You then take a number and go through a door.
Upon entering you are greeted with 8 separate booths and about 30 chairs face towards the door and a tv that had CNN playing on it. I waited for about 10 minutes and then my number was called, so I went to the designated booth. I had to hand in some documents and then waited for another 10 minutes for them to enter the information into the computer. My number was then called for the actual interview.
The interview only lasted for about 3-5 minutes and the man interviewing was very friendly. He just asked some generic questions like how did we meet, did I ever go there, what I did for a living, did she ever come to Belgium, etc. He then congratulated me on getting approved and informed me on the next steps for the procedure.
The next Monday I received a big envelope with my passport and K1 visa in it.
One small issue I did experience was that upon arriving in the US, the border officers opened my envelope and noticed that the embassy only put copies of the original I-129f form in it and not the original petition. I will have to see if this causes any issues or not (I hope it doesn't).
Overal a very pleasant experience I would say!
