March 22 2018 - Interview
Brief Background: I met my fiancee while i lived here in Cambodia. We been together since August 2016 and I proposed to her in March of 2017, she moved in with me in April of 2017 and we got engaged in May of 2017. June 2017, I sent my son (different mother) off to America, to start kindergarten. I decided to come back, to be with my fiancee until the K1 got approved. If we got denied, I would have moved back to the US, without her, and try to sort out the K1 situation..because I could not be away from my 6 year old son any longer.
Interview Day:
-8:30am appointment, arrived at 7:30am, was let in at 8:15am
-Went thru double security, and then straight to Window 7 for our number
-close to 9am, my fiancee was called up to window 2 for fingerprints
-about a 30minute after, she was called up for the interview. her part took about 10minutes until I was called up.
*The Consular asked her; why I moved to Cambodia, what i do for work, how we met, when was our engagement ceremony, who was there, what are our wedding plans
.*The Consular asked me: what i did for work, why I moved to Cambodia and what are wedding plans
*she then pulled out the Blue slip and said that we had qualified for the K1 Visa, and congratulated us.
NOTE: I prepared sooo many documents and they only took her Criminal Background check, Medical Examination, i134 Affidavit and only year 2017 taxes and proof of relationship
It's been a long, frightful, nervous, stressful journey. The good thing is that I never had to be away from my fiancee but the bad part was that I had to be away from my son during the the K1 approval. Glad it's over and we can finally plan our future together. We are both excited..my son as well.
The experience at the US Embassy - Cambodia, it was pleasant for us. It was straight forward and quick. Thanks to VJ and other's experience..it made things easier and gave me an idea of what to expect. Did I mention I WAS NERVOUS! whew!
