We filed a CR-1 Visa with the direct consular filing method since I was living in Jalisco for a couple years now (5).
As the petitioner my experience at the Juarez embassy was ok.
I liked: security, there are guards outside making sure people are circulating by and not loitering.
Did not like: having to wait outside on the street. All the family members are waiting outside for about a block, standing around. It´s okay, until it was 9:30 ish when it got sunny and hot. I would advise to check the temperature of your interview date/week. Because I just went in march and it was SO COLD in the morning, windy and freezing in general. But once the sun was out it burned and there is no shade.
My husband went in 8:10 and was out by 10:25.
My husband thinks it was a good experience as well. People were kind and the system was efficient.
The interview is not private, there are around 8 officers who do interviews in one hall where you can basically hear what others are being asked, if they are being approved or denied, etc.
His officer was nice to him, asked if he preferred English or Spanish for the interview (my husband said that was weird, since nobody else was asked this, just had interview in Spanish). He said English was fine.
He was asked 3 things
Who is Elizabeth (me)
Who is John (joint sponsor)
Where do you intend to live?
and that´s it, visa approved you may leave the building.
Interview lasted less than 10 minutes.
He did not even get to show off our fabulous binder with my intent to regain domicile in the U.S. and proof of our bonafide marriage. That was a bummer, but at least his visa was approved
