The officer was very curt but not overly rude. He did not ask us any questions about the validity of our relationship. Instead, he spent the whole 10 minutes that we were there talking about how my wife changing her last name was some kind of scam. Two things about this, I have over 10 years of experience enforcing immigration laws in the southwest where 99 percent of the people that I encounter are Hispanic. My wife is Filipino but they follow the same naming formula that Spain and Mexico use which is, Given name, Mother's Surname, Father's Surname. Pretty easy to understand. Once someone from a culture that follows this formula gets married they usually change their name to this, Given name, Father's surname, Husband's Surname. This is how my wife's name appears on her SS card, her state ID, her driver's license, her combo card, our marriage license etc. This guy seemed to think that this was wrong but asked my wife what she preferred and she said that she would like to keep the name the way it was and he seemed to drop the issue. Then he pulled up her file and stated that there was a temporary file open with her A number on it and he could not approve the AOS until he physically placed that paper file into the packet. He said that it was most likely the EAD/AP paperwork which had yet to be sent to Phoenix. He gave us the receipt for the visit saying that the file would be approved as soon as he got those forms.
Almost 90 days later we got a notice that the card was on the way, but with the wrong middle name. That guy is such a POS, his name was BYRNE and if you get him, prepare to get F@#ked.
Now we have to file the I 90 but we are moving out of state as well in about 20 days. The combocard extension will most likely not be approved because a greencard has been issued already but it hasn't because we will now wait about 3 to 6 months for a replacement if they even get the addresses right!
