The day of the interview my fiancé and I arrived In Kingston and we parked the car in one of the lots across the street. The guy outside was charging 500JMD but we talked hm down to 300JMD lol. We walked down to the embassy, entered the line, and waited for security to check our documents confirming that our interview was for today. We then entered the first part of the building where you have to clear security and a metal detector. Everything went fine, but there are many restrictions to enter the building. They did not allow my lipgloss inside, my fiancé put it outside in the bushes (which is probably prohibited) it was there when we came out. They are very strict, no cell phones are allowed inside. Some local people are outside willing to hold your belongings for a fee. I had my 6 week old infant, we had no problems going through the metal detectors, but security did ask me to taste my baby’s milk from the bottle before allowing me to bring it inside. (I said no, And I opted to let the baby drink the milk, and they were satisfied with that). We entered another door and we were directed to an entrance to another building. Our documents were checked again, and we were given a number. We sat down in the seats to the far right, and waited for our number to be called. Our number was called after about 30 minutes. We went up to the window where they asked us for the documents from packet 3. My fiancé was finger scanned, and asked to sign 2 forms that says he was never married. We were instructed to sit back down and wait for his name to be called. After another 30 minutes. My fiancé’s name was called. Both of hearts dropped because we knew this is it! This is the moment that we’ve been waiting for. As I approached the window with my fiancé, the first question the CO asked me was “is this your baby, and is your fiancé the father” I said yes and yes. The CO then smiles and said I have no further questions (but he really did lol) His first question to us was “Why didn’t you just get married here in Jamaica? why didn’t you do the cr1 visa? My fiancé and I weren’t expecting that question, after a long pause I explained that when I met my fiancé our relationship was fairly new, and he proposed to me, and we were engaged.... He asked my fiancé other questions like have you ever been arrested, have you ever had to see the judge at court, he also asked how we met, do we have wedding plans, how we keep in touch, do I visit often.. Most of the COs attention was placed on our baby, he did ask for the baby’s birth certificate, but I didn’t have it. I offered his passport instead. He asked if the baby had the fathers last name, where was the baby born, asked was the baby born in Jamaica, is the fathers name on the birth certificate, the baby’s birthday.... after answering all of his questions (he even asked the same question more than once)... the interview came to an end, he was typing something on his computer, wrote something on our envelope and told us he has some final clearances, and if everything is ok, then we should be all set. I asked what kind of clearances, he said he couldn’t give me any information but that it was part of their process. He then said check with DHL in a week. I then said we have a flight out, is it possible I can pick our things up at the embassy, he said “who is we”... I then said me and the baby, and we want my fiancé to fly with us. He looked up and said “you have your entire lives to be together, another week won’t kill you”.... My fiancé and I were slightly disappointed but we said thank you, and we left. Our visa was issued 7 days later, and ready for pick up 14 days after our interview. The CO we got definitely was emotionless, and hard to read... he never actually used the word “approved” so we had mixed feelings leaving the embassy. But all turned out well. We now have visa in hand, and set to fly out in another week
