Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my interview on January 3rd at 8:00 a.m. and arrived in Frankfurt the night before to spend the night next to the consulate at hotel Friedberger Warte.

I went over at 7:30 a.m. for my appointment and had to stand in line outside for maybe 15 minutes. There is a window where you need to show your passport and you will get marked of the appoinment list. Some ppl have to show different papers, depending on their Visa´s. The person behind the window asked me for my DS-156 Form that I did not not have but still got my receipt and went through security (just like at an airport).

Then you live the entrance part and walk towards a huge building. Inside is a hall with chairs for 300 people and windows from 1-23. On the disply ppl get called with their receipt to their different windows. The windows are seperated by walls and have a little "window silk" so that you can put down for folders, purse etc.

First window was No. 23 - woman asking me for my passport style picture and telling that my ears are not visable in the picture. She also gave me the envelope that i had to self adress and put my stamps on and asked me go take new picture and to make sure you can see my eyes in them. Good thing is that there is a phograph booth inside the hall and a money changing machine and you can get buy postage stamps there.. everything is made easy for us I thought. I only had a 100 Euro bill and had to find somebody to change money in smaller bills for me because the money changing machine will not accept bigger bills then 20 Euros. So I took 4 more pictures for 6 Euros and went back to window 23 to hand them to the lady behind it. She was all over very nice (and German by the way) and took the pictures and still told me she was not sure if they would accept it. Anyway I told her I was really sorry my ears were small and she was really nice about it and told she think they will accept it and handed me a sheet of paper instructing me for my next step.

The sheet of paper told me in what order the person at the next window would like to see my paperwork. So I had to prepare my birth certificate, my police report and my I-134 form. After 45 minutes I got called to another window and the man behind it asked me if i had the form DS-157 with me because it was missing in my file. I didn´t and had to go back to my sit and fill it out. Afterwards I wanted another 30 minutes for the man to call me back to my window. There is collected all my documents, read all over my information again and had me sight one of all those forms. He told me that he has all the neccessary papers and the last step would be talking to the officer that would call me again. So I went back, too a seat and waited another 45 minutes for the american officer to call me to his window (until then everybody spoke German). He took my fingerprints and asked me how I met Doug and had some questions about my previous stays in the USA. I stayed one year on a B-2 Tourist Visa from 2005-2006 in California (when I ment Doug. 6 months is allowed if you overstay you break the law. I applied for an axtention and got approved in 2006 but didn´t bring any Actions of the case. He was nice about it but needs that for his records and asked me to fax it to him after I get home then they will issue my Visa.

I faxed the missing documents today and will recieve my Visa in the mail hopefully soon.
