Our appointment was for 8:00AM. We arrived at consulate by around 7:30 am and there were a ton of people standing across the street. At 7:45 am, the security guards allowed us to queue in front of the embassy. I would highly recommend that you come early and try to get in the front of the queue (esp. if you have a 8:00 am appointment, which is I believe the first possible appointment); tokens are handed out in the order of people waiting in line and it dramatically reduces your waiting time if you are able to get one of the first tokens.
Anyways, 7:44 am, they allowed us into the embassy, we passed through security and into an outside waiting area where we were able to sit down. (Side note: do not bring your cell phones or any sort of backpacks, they will not allow them into the embassy). Three Indian staff members walked through the line and made us take out/arrange the following documents --
1) DS-260 confirmation
2) Interview appointment letter.
3) Police Certificate + Copy
4) Birth Certificate + Copy
5) Marriage Certificate + Copy
6) Medical Examination packet
We were then allowed into another room which was lined with interview counters. We were given tokens (we got the second token) and then started waiting. About 15 minutes, later we were called up to one of the counters where an Indian staff woman looked over the documents, opened the medical packet and reviewed the contents. She took my husband passport and then handed me the flier on domestic abuse. She asked literally no questions. She handed back all of the originals and then asked us to sit back down.
I then waited ~1 hour before we were called back to an interview counter. She then asked me the following questions --
(1) How did you and your husband meet?
(2) How did you get to know each other prior to the wedding?
(2) arranged marriage or love marriage
(3) What does you husband do for a living?
(4) Have you gone for a honeymoon and where
Shethen asked if she'd read the packet on domestic abuse and then uttered the magical words, your visa has been approved!!! The CO gave my wife an approval slip, as well as another document on how to pay the green card fee! We exited the consulate; in total it took us ~3.5 hours.
Some notes/tips:
(1) The CO didn't look at any of the extensive evidence documents we'd brought.
(2) No one asked for the I-864 form or any of my tax documents.
