Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give you guys a review of the day of our interview at the US embassy in Stockholm Sweden. My son and I had to fly to Stockholm, Sweden from Bergen, Norway. Scandinavians (Norway, Sweden and Denmark) is required to go to Stockholm for Immigrant Visa interviews.
We arrived the day before for the interview, slept at a hotel fairly close to the Embassy. Next day we ordered a cab from the hotel to the Embassy about 1 hour prior to the interview, the interview was scheduled at 8:30 am. The ride took only 10 minutes, so we were at the Embassy about 50 minutes prior to the interview, and let in about 10 minutes before. (PS: it was a really cold morning).
Arriving at the Embassy you will find two lines, one for Non-immigrant Visas & students, and then a second line for US Citizen and Immigrant Visa sections. It is very easy to see what is what (there is also a sign telling you), we were the only one in the Immigrant VISA lane, and quite a long line at the Non Immigrant lane.
Anyway, we were the first called to the window of the Embassy (I guess since we were standing in the Immigrant & Citizen lane they took us first). We were told to stay behind a yellow line, they then asked me to step forward with my passport for identification. I had to repeat this for my son as well. Then they wanted us to take our shoes and jackets off, plus checking inside my document file. Then they invited us in and had us proceed through a metal detector. You are not allowed to bring anything in to the embassy building other than your document file, you can leave your cell phone with the guards, they will give you a number that you have to give them, so you can pick it up, when you leave the building. Once we were done with the security, they told us to follow a yellow line towards the building where the interview was being held. Once we arrived in that building, a guard greeted us and asked me what we were there for, I told them "for our Immigrant Visa interview". He told me to proceed to window number 7, where I was greeted by a nice lady that made sure I had all the paperwork right. Luckily I did, so after sorting through it all, she told me to sit down and wait to be called up for the actual interview. We were sitting there for about 20 minutes before we were called up to window number 5 for the actual interview. This lady was very nice also, she first told me to take finger prints, then i had to do the oath where i promised to tell the truth. She started to ask me:
Where and how did we meet?
- I told them where and when we met, and we talked a little around that for a few minutes. The conversation was so natural that one question naturally led to other questions in regards to that.
They also asked:
Where and when did you get married?
-And since that was a great happening in my life, it was not hard to give all the details about that day. NOTE: Be prepared to show photos of you and your spouse in various situations in life (with or without extended family members) when these questions is being asked, cause they want to see that.
The interview was over after 10 minutes, very nice and good experience!
...that was really it, I think the questions was self explanatory, and so easy to answer, and I just felt that I had a good chat with someone that wanted to know about my wife and I. Since my marriage is very real, I am sure they had no problem approving our Immigrant VISA's, these people are very professional and had probably already made their decision from the time I gave them my paperwork at window 7 until I was called up to the Interview window 5.
I am traveling to the United States on March 6th 2018, and is very much looking forward to reunite with my Wife and daughter!!
