Here Experience with the Venezuelan Embassy was not positive at all.
Before I even get to the interview here is my experience with some correspondence before the interview.
1. Received my NVC approval letter stating that the Caracas Embassy will contact me/fiancee with an available appointment time. I waited weeks for that. No effort was ever made on their part. I finally found information online that stated they wouldn't. This misleading information probably cost me 4 to 6 weeks. I sent emails and never received any nonautomated replies back from the embassy. I did receive an acknowledgment email with broken links to information that was no longer there.
2. I finally was able to sign up but there were no appointments available. I called NVC and a customer service rep told me told I should check the website every day and look for an appointment. So I did for 1 month and finally, I was able to get an appointment almost 2 months from that date. I received a letter from the embassy saying congratulations and these the documents needed for the appointment.
3. With all the required documents in hand, my fiancee goes to the appointment. The actual interview was degrading and humiliating. They place all the K-1 interviewers in a room and they grill them in front of everybody.
They ask questions like
How did we meet? Why do I not speak Spanish fluently? Why did I marry her? How was my son? How old is he? Why did I get divorced? When was the last time we communicated? How old am I? What is my cell number? Who paid for the Visa and the travel cost when we met. They ask the question over and over, several times. They try to force part of the interview questions in English.
This didn't happen to my fiancee but she watched other girls answer these questions, embassy employees are openly mocking, ridiculing and laughing at the girl responses. In some cases not even giving them a chance to respond.
So she was approved but wait you need another document that was not listed as a required documents. You need to send that document and in weeks from then you will get your visa. So we on another opened ended waiting for a document we could have easily provided if they had listed it.
These are some of the keywords she used to describe what she saw at the embassy, humiliating, rude, aggressive and evil.
I hope this will help some avoid the same traps that happened to me. Overall I am deeply hurt that as a country we don't hold ourselves to a higher standard. The good news is we are approved and this draconian process is almost at an end.
