My husband arrived at the consulate at 5:30am, for a 6:45am interview. He had taken an Uber from Ikeja, and the Uber driver had taken many for their interviews before, so he had my husband wait in the car, and told him when he should go out to get in the line. Shortly after 6am the consulate personnel had come out to begin lining people up - my husband was near the front as they called for the first round of interviews.
As mentioned before, interview letters were checked and people were told to open their medical envelopes. After these items were checked and first fingerprints were taken, my husband was issued a number for his interview. Once in the main hall, the interviews began. There were two women interviewing the immigrant applicants that day. My husband was the 8th person called. It seems they were calling people alphabetically.
Once at the window, my husband's fingerprint was taken again, and he was sworn in. He said the woman smiled when he wished her "Happy Thanksgiving in advance" and she was very pleasant throughout the interview.
She asked the following questions:
Who petitioned for you?
How did you meet?
Why did it take you two so long to decide to marry? (We have known each other since 20 years)
Does your wife still fly for the airlines?
Who does she work for now?
Does she still get to fly airplanes?
Where did she live before moving to where she lives now?
Were you married before?
Do you have any children other than your stepson?
What is your address in Nigeria?
That was it. She congratulated him and said his visa was approved. She gave him paperwork telling him how to pick up his passport and visa package. She told him it would be ready in 10 business days. He was back out in the Uber car and on the phone with me by 8:45am. Today he received the email stating that it is already at DHL for him to pick up - just the second business day after his interview, not counting the Thanksgiving holiday.
