Had our interview today. Arrived at 10:00 for a 10:30 appointment and was called in at 10:35. IO came out and called petitioner's name and took us back to her office. We were put under oath, and then she asked both of us our full names and birthdays. She took my husband's fingerprints and picture (he's the petitioner) . Then she asked me what my husband's full name is and his birthday. Then she asked my husband for my birthday and full name.Which felt weird because we just stated these by ourselves only minutes before, in front of one another. She wanted to see my husband's birth certificate, I think because that's why we had an RFE (although I know for SURE we put his birth certificate in the original package). Swedish birth certificates are basically print outs from their version of the IRS so they don't look very formal.

She went through the i485 with my husband (all the yes/no about being a terrorist, belonging to a terrorist group, etc.) She then asked us our story, how we met, what trips we've been on together, what we did for our first date, where we live now and how long we've lived there. Since my husband has moved around a bit, she needed clarification on each address he put in the 485.

It was a very casual conversation, and we answered all the questions together (My husband shot me a look when she asked where our first date was, very typical of him to not remember this but then again it was 6 years ago). She then asked if we had any other evidence we wanted to show. We handed over a stack of pictures that she went through while still talking to us about our trips and if I like soccer (my husband came to America on a soccer scholarship, that's how we met in an American University). When we got to the part of how we met, she took some diligent notes about my sister's name and her boyfriend's name since we met through them, I found that interesting. She never asked to see employment verification letters or our updated tax info (we showed them anyway since we filed jointly last year). She said any info we can give her now will help our case when we remove the conditions in 2 years. I was also nervous because I haven't changed my name (and most likely won't, just a personal preference), and we don't have a joint bank account. But my husband did show her his bank transactions showing he pays me for his phone and rent, and she went through it and highlighted my name wherever it popped up. She didn't indicate that those were problems at all.

When we were done, she then said she had everything she needed to approve us and he should twice be his green card in 2-3 weeks. All in all it took 25 minutes and was extremely pleasant. My husband and I were in the same office the entire time, and were never separated for the questions. I was sweating bullets on the way in, but there's really nothing to be afraid of if you're truly in a relationship. So happy this part of our journey is behind us and we can breathe (and finally travel without worry) for the next two years!javascript:emoticon('')
