Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
I attended the interview with my fiance. The interview was scheduled for 9:45 on October 25, 2017 and we arrived at the consulate at 9. I had expected to have to wait outside but my fiance explained we were there for the K1 and they allowed me in the consulate. At security they took my phone and drivers license (take two picture IDs) they also took my fiance's phone, car keys and ID.
My fiance was called to the 1st window at about 10:30 and they took his finger prints, my financial information (the DS134, 2016 tax return and tax transcript...they gave the tax returns for 2015 and 2014 back to my fiance and returned my business tax return for 2016). In addition to the financial information they kept the copy of his military card and translation, birth certificate and translation, certificate of non marriage and translation, and police certificate with translation.
We waited another hour and a half for the interview. My fiance was called to the window for the interview. The interview began in English and my fiance requested French but the interview took place in Arabic. The questions were:
What is your fiance's name?
How did you and your fiance meet?
Where did you meet in person? (Germany)
Why did you meet in Germany instead of Algeria?
My fiance mentioned he had also met my sister on the trip...he was asked what he thought of my sister.
What does your fiance do for a living?
What do you do for a living?
What is your and your fiance's religious beliefs?
Asked about my trip to Algeria in March 2017 and what his family thought of me.
My fiance pointed out I had returned in October and was in the room.
What do you have in common with your fiance?
Why do you love your fiance?
Then said "welcome to America, your visa is approved"
After the interview they told my fiance it would take no more than 10 days to get his passport with the visa. He picked up the passport and packet on November 2, 2017
