Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was at 10 a.m. but as I read on the reviews here they don't let anyone in too ahead of time, I only went at 9.45 a.m.
I went through a first security check-point outside, and handed out my passport, medical sealed, DS-260 and criminal record. I was given everything back to me and got inside.

There, I went through a second security check. They take all your electronics and give you a badge/number to get them back when you get out.

Once inside, I was showed to get in line. There was quite a few people (I think about 10) in front of me but everything was awfully slow despite most windows being open. I waited more than an hour to get to the first window.

At that first window they took my fingerprints and checked my documents. They already had originals for most of the documents so I really didn't have to bring all this with me and they gave me all the copies back. All in all they only needed my passport photos, my updated criminal record and my medical sealed enveloppe, so it went rather quickly.
I was told to get in line for the second window.

After another hour of waiting (wear comfortable shoes, there are no seats!!) I got to the second window where the actual interview took place.
I noticed there is basically no confidentiality because people are waiting in line no further than a meter behind the people having their interview.

I don't know if it's because I arrived with a "Good morning!" but my interview was conducted in English, despite being in French at all the other windows. It didn't matter to me at all but I figured I'd mention it in case it matters to you.

The man was typing the whole time, barely looking at me, flipping through our file at times and only asked a few questions [now you need to know my husband is incarcerated and my mother-in-law is my (co-)sponsor] :

- How long have you been married?
- What’s his job?
- How did you meet?
- When did you start writing?
- How many times have you seen him?
- Where did you get married?
- What is your mother-in-law’s job?
- Do you stay at his mother’s when you visit?
- Will you live with her?

At one point he excused himself and left, so I was worried there was an issue with our file but he came back and started typing again.
After the previous questions, he leaned over a little and said "I guess you do but I have to ask, are you aware of his legal situation?". I said "Yes" and was expecting more questions about this, but he put all the papers back together and said "Looks like everything is okay, your visa has been approved, you'll receive it in about ten days".

I had proofs with me of a (still) ongoing relationship - because the interview happened more than a year after our NO1, but I wasn't asked anything.

The reasons I only rate it 4 is
1) I have a slight hearing problem at one ear and the thick window + all the noise around (as I said people are waiting right behind you), it was hard for me to hear at times.
2) the long waiting time(s) and no seats.
(those are strictly personal I guess but really made my experience uncomfortable when it could have been nothing but nice)

All in all the interview was quite short, to the point and cordial enough, I greatly appreciate that I didn't get intrusive questions about my husband's situation

I also want to add I didn't get my visa in 10 days... but in 3 WEEKS! But it's here now ^^
