We had a 9:15 am appointment, and arrived at 8:55 am. The building isn't easy to find -- it's sort of hidden down a road behind an Extended Stay hotel -- but it was big and new and shiny and there was plenty of parking.

8:55 am -- We parked and went in; at the entrance is a cordon leading to a security checkpoint (airport style), with metal detectors and multiple officers/agents overseeing. There was no line, and the guy who checked us in was really nice (and laughed at our jokes). He told us he'd call us in about 5 minutes, and to meantime wait in the first floor waiting area.

9:00 am -- The officer stepped into the lobby and called for 'all 9:15 am appointments.' We went up, but they only needed my husband to check in; I was told to sit and wait for him, and that he'd be right back. He showed his appointment letter to the officer, then was directed to a check in desk, where he gave a bit more information and got a number (ours was K15, but I have no idea if the K was coincidental ).

9:06 am -- With our number, we were directed up to the second floor for our appointment. We took the elevator up to the second floor, where there was a smaller waiting area facing two doors. There was also an unmanned desk, a screen with numbers on it, and a bunch of nervous looking couples and families.

9:20 am -- An officer appeared at one of the doors to call our number. We walked with the officer, who introduced himself along the way, down a short hall with lots of interview rooms. In the room, we were both told to put our bags down, then had to stand to swear an oath of truthfulness.

The officer told me that the questions would be primarily for my husband, but that I could 'help' if I wanted to. But he only asked a few questions: when did you first enter the US? have you ever had weapons training? do you have a police record beyond what we're already aware of? etc....hubby didn't even need my help!

After the answer, the officer informed us that we would be approved, then to expect the green card within a month.

9:40 am -- We were walking out to our car!
