My experience was extremely easy going and quick. My interview was scheduled for 10am so I arrived about 10 minutes early. Went through all the security business and handed over everything that wasn't my visa interview paperwork.
Went through and sat waiting for about 20 minutes before I was called up to speak with Ellie who made sure I had all my paperwork in order and to just inform me because of the Police Clearance policy change with the Nz police, that I was to fill in a new form on the Police vetting website as the Consulate can no longer obtain said clearance for me anymore. She also emailed me about the same thing the day before so I had already applied and had my clearance processed that night before.
After that I went and paid my application few and then sat down for another 10-15 minutes before I was called up to my interview. He asked how we met, where we would live, what I was going to do in Texas etc.
Then said once he received the police clearance form the visa would be approved as it was all fine already minus the clearance form.
All in all, was in and out in about 1 hour!! So speedy!
The most stressful part of the whole thing was one of the diamonds fell out of my engagement ring while at the counter during my interview!!
