The entire process went very smoothly. My fiancé arrived around 11 am for his 11:30 appointment. I know they mention not to arrive too early, but since there is a line to get in and an entire security process, he ended up being right on time.
He was called to the counter shortly after 11:30. He had his paper verification with a French woman. He of course brought a lot of supplementary documents and forms that were not needed.
Then he went to a second line where he waited about 5 minutes to have the actual interview. He spoke with an American employee, where he was asked to swear an oath that all the information he was submitting was true and accurate. He went through the file and asked basic questions about my fiancé and then about us as a couple. The questions were not particularly detailed or deep, just general things about how we met, where, why we wanted to be in the US.
At the end, he said that his file has been accepted. We paid for expedited delivery, and my fiancé mentioned that he had his flight booked for the following week (10 days from the interview). The man reassured him that there should be no problem to receive the passport and visa back in time.
Unfortunately, this is the part where it is pretty difficult to find accurate information. As I mentioned, we paid for expedited delivery of the passport with visa. He did not receive his passport before his originally scheduled flight, which initially incited a lot of panic and chaos. However, he was able to get his passport on the following Monday by going directly to the embassy and asking for it. I should mention that he only went to the embassy because his online status said that the visa had been issued and that it was ready for pick up.
