Biometrics & Medical in Mexico City

I had my appointment scheduled at 7:30 for medical. I was out at 11:30 a.m. I got my vacinnes (be prepared for some pain in your arms for a couple of days) I returned next day for the results cause I had biometrics the next day and I didn't want to wait to pick them up at 1:30 pm that same day.

Biometrics is easy. You're out in 10 mins. You can bring your phone but it must remain totally off and show it to the officer when you join the building.

I arrived to Ciudad Juarez one day before the interview and Stayed at the City Express Hotel just across the street from the consulate. You can have breakfast for free starting at 6:00 a.m. and it's buffet style. I liked it.

I found Ciudad Juarez too hot for me. I'm used to temperatures not higher than 20°c and they were at 36°c when I got there and it was CLOUDY! The airport is too small and their A.C. system isn't too good. There's not much to do there, so I advice you to get there just when u need to and not before.

The interview day:

I made a few mistakes which I hope help you. I had my interview at 8:40 am. So I was in line at 8:00 a.m. with the documentation ready and all. But silly me, I brought a small make up powder in my bag to help with the oily face (which happens when temperatures are too high), I read in the consulate official page that you're allowed to bring small quantities of makeup. The problem was that my makeup had a small mirror. Which is a NO-NO in the consulate. I was removed from the screening area where the guards review your bag and I had to get rid of it. I went to a small store in the corner next to the consulate and throw it away. I returned and the 2nd time on the scan the officers found my chapstick. Since it's cute round one, they thought it was something else, they asked what is it for?.. I said it's a chapstick and they made me use it in front of them. I wasted more time there. All this could of have been avoiding if I wasn't so girly.

When they let you go in you're in an open space area with gardens and you'll see 3 arrows which lead you to different areas of the consulate: First one is for American citizens
2nd one is for people that are getting their Non-immigrant visas and finally the 3rd one is for Immigrant visas. K1 <- this is where they sent me.

There's an open area with a roof and several huge fans above, they have a small playground area for kids. There's also like 350 chairs in the area. And they sit you according to the number you have on your papers. They attach it to your invite letter. Along with your DS-160.

The waiting there is awful. I was there for nearly 2 hours and a half. A guy with a cart will come by and will offer beverages and candies and cookies for an affordable price. The bathroom is right next to that waiting area. Once they finally let you inside the big building the wait there is really low.

The guy that was sitting us explained us the following: You'll go to the first windows and you'll provide your paperwork they ask you. There's 3 types of chairs. The green and the black are for you to go to the interview once they had all your documentation. The blue ones are for you to wait since there's probably papers missing or they need to review further your papers before letting you move to the interview.

The lady that reviewed my documents was very polite and professional. I had to wait a little longer cause they didnt have my case on hand. Then they sent me to the black chairs. Once there the guy that was sitting us moves us to a line where u are gonna be interviewed. You can hear other people's interview while you wait.

My interview was very fast, He asked stuff about how we met, how long, etc etc.. After a couple of minutes. He said the words I wanted to hear since we started the process: "Su visa ha sido aprovada, felicidades" Your visa has been approved, congratulations..

He then gave me my birth certificate original back and a green paper with instructions to track the visa.
