San Jose CA | Review on May 30, 2017: | Janica
Rating: | Review Topic: Adjustment of Status
We are adjusting my status from K1 Fiance Visa to Permanent Resident. Although in some case, if you are from K1 Visa you will got approved or received residency card without interview.
Anyway, our interview was scheduled May 19, 2016 at 8:55am in San Jose Office. We arrived at the office at 8:30am and they let us in. At the reception, they asked for my appointment letter and original passport. After that, we proceed to Security Detector Machine and then advised us to fall in line where there was a sign says for Interview. The woman asked again for my appointment letter and original passport then, stamped my interview letter and advised us to go to the room on the left for my name to be called.
After waiting for about 15 minutes, a Chinese guy officer called my name. Together with my husband we went to his office. Before the interview started, we raised our right hand to make an oath that we will say the truth. Then, our interview started.
He pulled out my documents from his files and started asking about the information I wrote on my application. He asked for my Full Name, Maiden Name, Birthday and if I am still living in the same home address.
The Officer started asking my husband about the name of my parents – my husband got it right. Then asked about my home address in the Philippines – but my husband just remember the city and told the officer that he forgot the house number. Then the officer asked again my husband for my phone number here in US but my husband forgot it too. Oh well, then the officer asked me on how we met, then I told him the date but he said why I can still remember it, I told him because that is one of the most special and memorable day in my life (Ahahaha…)
Then the officer asked us to bring out all the evidence we have for bona fide marriage. We gave our bank account with our both names on it and our tax return. We have shown our pictures from our wedding and in Europe when we had a vacation with his family.
Then, before the interview ended he asked for my updated vaccination before in the Philippines I only had TDAP vaccination on my record. Good thing that even some say that I do not need the I-693 because I am from K1 status with less than a year medical, I still completed it and submitted on that day. The officer said that it’s good that you have these.
So before we go out the room, the officer told us that he will approve our application and my card will be delivered in a week.
Just a piece of advise to someone that soon will have interview. First, be yourself. It is okay if you don’t remember everything in details just do not guess or say some information that is not true because the true marriage will show. Second, bring some loose pictures from your wedding or from special occasion together because in our case I was not able to give the officer my wedding pictures because it is laminated in the photo book.
Hope this review can help others!
