I believe our visa was denied due to the officer being tired and careless and grumpy. The lady was the only one working at the time with about 40 other interviews she had handled early in the day. When my fiancee was called for his turn she gave him a piece of paper and told him to write a statement in how we met. He wrote everything exact and it matched our petition. She told him that what he wrote down didn't match the time we met as if she was making excuses to find a reason to deny us. but we had proof of the emails in the petition and on our letter to match, We had front loaded our petition with everything and if they had a question, we had the proof. She refused to look at any new documents my fiancee brought in, or communicate any questions or concerns she had with him even if she was confused. She also pulled in another person to sit down in the middle of my fiancees interview and told him to wait. Once she called my fiancee back she immediately took it upon herself to accuse and state to him that I was previously married and then divorced. She had no feasible proof or anything that stated that, and we were already cleared and approved by USCIS about my marriage and divorce history. She started telling him that I was a liar and a scammer and she kept repeating herself and actually tried to convince him that I was a fake and he should believe her and not me as if he needed council. By the way I make 10 times more income than him. Anyway, she seemed to feel a little bad at the end of the interview because she wouldn't look my fiancee in the eye, and instead of filing a fraud claim against us, she submitted the reason for our denial by not proving bona fide relationship. I believe we were treated very unfairly at the Lagos Embassy. I am grateful that we were not flagged and banned. What a waste of time and money! So we will try again. It is sickening to me that this officer represents our country and can alter our lives depending on her mood that day. It was a very heartbreaking day. And the months are long, but we will get through this and hopefully we will have a better outcome the second time around. I have signed a waiver and have provided certified letters from my governor to prove that no marriage or divorce ever existed. Maybe she will actually read it next time.
