I'm a New Zealander married to a US citizen. Our son was born in NZ so he automatically gained NZ citizenship. We had to go to the consulate in Auckland to gain his US citizenship.
Overall the experience was positive. Similar to others, arrive in foyer, hand over bags, phones, etc.
They let us take the stroller and some baby bottle in after it went through the security scanner. Security was pleasant and easy to deal with. We were able to go back through security to our bags when we needed a toy our son.
Experience inside was fine, directed to a window, wait for someone to appear. Hand over evidence/documentation then directed to another window to pay fees.
After a wait (45mins) called back up to the window, make a pledge (right hand) and confirm details. That was it.
Will be back at the consulate next year for my own Immigrant Visa interview, hopefully it goes as smoothly!
