Posting this just hours after an APPROVAL at the Los Angeles USCIS office! Our appt was set for 1:15PM and we arrived a little early (traffic can be awful) by 12:15PM. There is no parking at the Federal Building, however if you turn down Judge Aiso St. off Temple, there is a lot called Aiso St. Parking Lot with $1/hr parking for the first 2hours. We left within that time, so $2 was actually really good. However, if you're coming from farther away, you can park anywhere in Little Tokyo where there's generally $8-10 full day parking and really nice places to eat and de-stress.
Office is on the 8th floor, it's right outside the elevator so you can't miss it. When we got there, there were only 4 other applicants ahead of us. We waited for about 40 mins before being called. Our officer's name was Officer Wilson, and he was very friendly and jovial and made us very relaxed. He asks questions directly off the submitted application, so it wasn't anything we didn't know or any trick question. My husband forgot which city i was born in, but that didn't matter. He also asked my husband (the beneficiary) more questions than he did me.
Despite the NOA saying to bring "copies of all forms and applications unless previously submitted), we did NOT need a copy of our I485 or 693. He had all the original files that were submitted by us on hand. For backup docs, we brought the certified copy of marriage certificate (since the state of CA does not give original copies), our apartment lease agreement with the signature pages, a copy of our phone bill which had both our names above the address and both our names on the phones, a printout of the "save the date" email we sent for our wedding reception, our flight and hotel booked for the honeymoon in August, and our car insurance with both our cars on it. He also asked if we had health insurance docs, and we had our Kaiser cards, though unfortunately they didn't have our names on them together- he took scans of them anyways because when together, it was fairly obvious they were for the same medical plan. The only "random" question he asked was whether we'd fought yet or not- we told him a jokey story about me attempting to make toad-in-the-hole (a weird British dish) and he was typing while we were talking- he laughed when i was done and then gave us a printout that said we were approved! He said that people have received their cards within 2 weeks, but the standard is 3-4. On that printout, it gives the date of when you need to file for Removal of Conditions, so don't loose that paper! LOL.
All in all, it was a very painless experience and i wish the rest of you the best of luck!!
