Everything went swimmingly! We got in line at 8:30 AM almost on the nose and we were in the building with a number by 8:55 AM. We were called to the first counter by about 9:45 AM - the man was pleasant and it didn't take long at all. There weren't any snags with paying either ($380 USD in total on my British visa debit card). And I'm sorry I can't quite remember how long we waited to get called for the actual visa interview part, but it wasn't long. The woman was nice again as well and she didn't ask my husband any questions at all actually. She asked me if I was the petitioner and if I had a home in the US, and she found my answers acceptable. Then she said everything was complete and they just had to make sure Chris didn't have an FBI profile (she nicely said this in a joking manner) and that he should have his passport with visa back within the week!
There was a bit of a to-do with paying for the courier as it costs 21GBP in adddition to the standard 14 GBP to get the package delievered before 8am. Chris decided we needed to pay for it because we both work normal business hours and are always out of the house just a few minutes after 8am. The pink form they gave us to fill out says there's Saturday delivery, but the woman at the SMS counter said they don't do Saturdays anymore.
So overall, I thought it was quite good! It was little confusing where we were supposed to go sometimes, but even a couple of the British armed security guards outside were nice to us and told us. There's a lot of roadworks right around the buildling, so all the signs and paths right now are temporary and probably more confusing than normal.
Oh, and also, it was no trouble at all for me to go in even though the sign says only those with appts are allowed in. The first woman who looked at Chris's letter just wrote my name and "yes" on his interview letter for us and waved us through. I am quite sure it was because I am the petitioner and his spouse.
