My Interview was today at 08:00am.
I arrived with the U5 (few stations from the main railway station) at 'Gießenerstr.'
As Instructed by my fellow Interviewers in Frankfurt i immediately went to the Consulate Kiosk and dropped off my Overnight bag and all my Electronics including Headphones.
The walk to the entrance of the consulate from the little kiosk is about 3-5 Minutes.
When you are a citizen or are in the immediate family category you can skip the long line and head straight up front where they call you to give you a Number and check your passport. (you kind of feel like a celebrity hahaha)
Once thats done, you go through security. Those guys have kind of an attitude so just do as you are told by them. Make sure you consolidate all your belongings in one plastic tray (my tray was overflowing so i just automatically grabbed a second one.. yeah, don't do that LOL) or else you get yelled at, like i did.
As soon as you are finished with that you head to the interviewing hall where you can see lines of people and chairs. I got instructed to sit down right by a pink wall and wait for my number to be called.
I got called up to the counter fairly quick. A nice lady crosschecked all the documents we sent to USCIS with the originals. (Divorce Decrees, Birth certificate, Police Records, ... )and took my fingerprints. She also explained to me what will happen once my Visa is approved, showed me the envelope which i am not suppose to open and asked me if i brought a envelope for my passport to be returned to me. No-one told me i had to get one so she handed me one and i purchased Stamps at the Stamp Machine for 5,20€. So be proactive and bring some Stamps or bring cash to purchase those. I lucky had 7€ in my wallet.
After that was all set and done i sat back down to wait for my Interview.
I was so nervous once i got called up. I had to swear my oath, the officer took my fingerprints once more and started to ask me:
-You lived in the states before from 05-09 on a green card, what happened to that green card and how did you get a visa
(explained to him i was married before and i surrendered it to the portland field office once i left the country)
-confirmend the date and place where i got married to my husband
-the date of my divorces
-if my previous husbands where american
-where i met my husband
-if we have seen each other since we got married
-if he visited me in germany
-how we met and when
-and if i have photos. I said yes and he was like 'are those the ones you submitted to USCIS'? He pointed on a sheet of paper with copies of pictures of us. I said 'yes' and he pointed to my husband and asked 'is this your husband' (it was a picture of me kissing his cheek haha) and i smiled and said 'yes' i got a smile in return back.
-he asked us if we have children or if i had children
The officer was very very calm and nice. It made my stressed out self feel way better.
That was pretty much it. He said everything looks good and as soon as my medical results arrive, they will issue the Visa.
I had to double-check and asked 'so this is it?' He confirmed that everything looks fine once again.
The whole ordeal took 5-10 minutes.
My red flags where my previous marriages but it all turned out well and was smooth sailing.
All in all it was a very pleasant, highly efficient (everything has it's place and they all seem super organized) and friendly.
